Geography

Modern-day Lacadovia is the third-largest country on the continent, covering a region of 633,000 sq km (244,402.7 sq mi) in the northwest and borders four other nations. Much of its terrain is gentle and rolling, and largely covered by expansive areas of tall-grass prairies. Broadleaf forests and sclerophyll woodlands cover most of the remaining land. The Commonwealth also holds control over the islands of Dapirovo, Skucheni, and Sovator to the east, within the Bay of Apokatas.

The second longest river on the continent, the Katárkh, defines the country’s southern border and flows out into the bay. The northern coast faces the Horizon Ocean, the largest ocean in the world (based on recovered geographic data).

Climate

Average temperatures over a Koulus year rarely dip below 22℃ (89.6℉), and precipitation averages are consistently high at 327.6 mm to 442 mm (12.9 in to 17.4 in) per K-month. This combination, in addition to extraordinarily fertile soil owing to its biome makeup, makes Lacadovia the “Breadbasket of The Lowlands.” Thunderstorms are relatively common across the country over the course of a year, although these storms often intensify in strength during the summer to occasionally severe extents.

Government & Politics

The government of Lacadovia operates as a semi-presidential system with shared powers between the head-of-state and prime minister. The head-of-state is a lifetime position selected through means which are unclear to external observers, but the prime minister (a relatively young role, dating back to 997 Kc) has been elected by members of the national legislature. While it is self-described as a democratic republic, the government is often referenced to as an authoritarian single-party state with oligarchical characteristics.

Foreign Relations

Lacadovian relations with other countries took a steep decline in the months following its splitter strikes within Vastepa, and declined further when it refused to take part in the Cessation and Cooperation Accords. While it maintains formal diplomatic ties with many nations, it lacks any significantly strong relationships outside of certain G.A.D.C. members or purely business-related interactions.

Since their instigation of the initial Anti-Colonialist rebellions in 976 Kc, it has had very hostile relations with member states of the Free League. In the aftermath of its fracturing years during the Twilight, it has also held poor relations with its now-independent territories.
